Al-Hajraf Affirms GCC’s Steadiness as a Pillar of Security and Stability

Dr. Nayef Falah Mubarak Al-Hajraf, Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), reaffirmed the GCC's steadiness and its strength as a pillar of security and stability, calling this GCC's decade based on the group's collective strengths, close bonds of brotherhood, and achievements.

The GCC Secretary General's remarks came at the first meeting of the 26th Advisory Body of the GCC Supreme Council, which is held in Muscat, Oman.

MWL Condemns Tearing of Copy of the Holy Quran by an Extremist in Netherlands

The Muslim World League (MWL) has condemned the tearing of a copy of the Holy Quran by an extremist in The Hague, Netherlands, in one of the most provocative scenarios to the feelings of Muslims all over the world.

In a statement, the Secretary General of MWL Sheikh Dr. Mohammed bin Abdulkarim Al-Isa, who is also Chairman of Muslims Senior Ulema Commission, reiterated his warning from the risks of hatred-and-anti-Islamic-provocative practices which usually conduce to violence and terror.

He confirmed that such acts would never weaken the faith of Muslims in their religion.

Assistant Defense Minister Visits Pakistan

Talal bin Abdullah Al-Otaibi, Assistant Minister of Defense, arrived in the Islamic Republic of Pakistan yesterday for a multi-day official visit.

At the outset of the visit, Eng. Al-Otaibi met with the Chief of Staff of the Pakistani Army, First Lieutenant General Asim Munir. During the meeting, they reviewed the strategic partnership between the two brotherly countries and discussed cooperation and ways to develop and enhance them, especially in the defense field.

Meanwhile, the Assistant Minister of Defense also met with the Chief of Staff of the Pakistan Army Command, Lieutenant General Muhammad Saeed. During the meeting, the two sides discussed several issues of common interest.

Saudi-Venezuelan Friendship Committee of Shura Council Meets with Venezuelan Ambassador to Kingdom

The Saudi-Venezuelan Friendship Committee of the Shura Council, headed by council member and chairman of the committee Dr. Ibrahim Al-Nahhas, held here today a meeting with Venezuelan Ambassador to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia David Velasquez Caraballo.

During the meeting, both sides discussed several issues of mutual interest to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and Venezuela and reviewed cooperation in various fields.

Discussions also addressed means to enhance bilateral action and cooperation at the level of parliamentary relations between the Shura Council and the Venezuelan parliament and activate the role of friendship committees between the two countries in a way that contributes to enhancing cooperation and joint action between the two sides.

The parliamentary friendship committees of the Shura Council aim to strengthen the ties of friendship between the council and parliaments in brotherly and friendly countries and to achieve greater coordination and cooperation in parliamentary events at the regional and international levels.

Pakistan Condemns Tearing Up Copy of Holy Quran in Netherlands

Pakistan strongly condemned the tearing up of a copy of the Holy Quran by an extremist in The Hague, Netherlands.

Pakistani Foreign Ministry spokesman Mumtaz Zahra Baloch said in a statement today that what happened in the Netherlands is undoubtedly a provocative hate crime committed under the guise of freedom of expression.

He noted that Pakistan has repeatedly stressed that freedom of expression must be practiced responsibly, and he called on the international community as a whole to prevent such outrageous acts committed to inciting religious hatred and violence.

KSrelief Assistant Supervisor General Meets with Director of UNESCO Regional Bureau in Beirut

King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSrelief) Assistant Supervisor General for Operations and Programs Eng. Ahmed bin Ali Al-Beez met here today with Director of the UNESCO Regional Bureau in Beirut Costanza Farina.

Talks during the meeting covered ways to enhance cooperation and coordination related to humanitarian and relief affairs, where the two sides also discussed educational projects between KSrelief and UNESCO to serve affected communities around the world.

Farina praised the impressive efforts of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, through its humanitarian arm KSrelief, in supporting the educational sector in needy countries.
