ZATCA Foils Attempt to Smuggle 27 Kg of Cocaine at Jeddah Islamic Port

Riyadh: The Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority (ZATCA) has thwarted, at Jeddah Islamic Port, an attempt to smuggle 27.6 kg of cocaine found hidden in the air conditioner of a shipment of potatoes coming into the Kingdom. ZATCA coordinated with the General Directorate of Narcotics Control to have two individuals who were supposed to receive the shipment arrested. ZATCA said it is committed to stiffening customs control of the Kingdom's imports and exports, stressing that it will stay vigilant to thwart smuggling attempts and ensure the protection of the society. It urged everyone to contribute to combating smuggling to protect society and the national economy by informing of any attempt at smuggling or selling drugs by calling 1910, via e-mail: 1910@zatca.gov.sa, or through the international number 00966114208417. Through these channels, ZATCA receives reports related to smuggling and violations of the provisions of the unified customs system; it treats them with utmost confidentiality.
