World’s Largest Oil Processing Plant of Abqaiq Becomes 3rd Aramco Facility to Join Prestigious WEF Global Lighthouse Network

Dammam, The World Economic Forum (WEF) has recognized a third Aramco facility, Abqaiq, for its pioneering adoption and integration of cutting-edge technologies of the Fourth Industrial Revolution (4IR). The Abqaiq oil processing facility, the largest oil processing plant in the world, joins Aramco’s Uthmaniyah Gas Plant and Khurais oil complex in the Forum’s prestigious Global Lighthouse Network. Global Lighthouse status is awarded to projects that demonstrate leadership in 4IR technologies to transform factories, value chains and business models.
Abqaiq is one of 21 new facilities added to the network, taking the total number to 90 worldwide, and Aramco is the only international energy company to be recognized.
Aramco’s Digital Transformation Vice President, Nabil Al-Nuaim, said: “We are delighted to be recognized once again for our adoption and deployment of cutting-edge technologies. That three of our key facilities have been added to the Global Lighthouse Network in less than three years is a testament to the importance we place on our Digital Transformation Program, and the rapid pace at which it is advancing. Through pioneering the large-scale use of 4IR solutions, such as Artificial Intelligence, Industrial Internet of Things (IioT), automation and robotics, we are setting new benchmarks for global industry. In the process, we are achieving significant improvements in cost, efficiency, product quality, energy consumption and environmental performance.”
Abqaiq is a cornerstone of Aramco’s operations and produces Arab Light Crude Oil, Arab Extra Light Crude Oil, Gas Condensate and Natural Gas Liquids (NGL). The facility provides around 5% of global oil supplies.

Japan to End COVID-19 State of Emergency on Thursday

Tokyo, Japan will lift a coronavirus state of emergency in all regions on Thursday as the number of new cases falls and the strain on the medical system eases, Prime Minister Yoshihide Suga said according to Reuters.
The plan takes Japan as a whole out of an emergency state for the first time in nearly six months.
“The daily new cases came down from more than 25,000 in mid-August to 1,128 yesterday … the number of patients with serious conditions has been on a downtrend after peaking in early September,” Suga told a coronavirus task force meeting.
“Thanks to progress in vaccination and administration of neutralising antibody drugs, we are entering a phase where medical services can be offered in a stable manner even if a certain degree of infections take place.”
Nearly 60% of the population is fully vaccinated and the government has said all those who want shots will have had them by November.

25 New Paths Allocated at Grand Holy Mosque to Meet Increasing Numbers of Umrah Performers

Makkah, The General Presidency for the Affairs of the Grand Holy Mosque and the Prophet’s Mosque has allocated 25 new paths at the Grand Holy Mosque in order to provide comfort for the visitors of the mosque, while implementing precautionary measures. This comes in light of the increasing number of worshipers and Umrah performers.
The general presidency arranged social distancing stickers for the new 25 paths around the Tawaf (circumambulation) area to keep pace with the preparations for 1443 AH Umrah season. It also allocated paths for people with disabilities in accordance with the precautionary measures.
The Two Holy Mosques Affairs General Presidency prepared new prayer areas inside the Grand Holy Mosque and its courtyards for Umrah performers in order to ensure their safety.

Saudi Press: Saudi Arabia’s commitment to sustainability is at forefront of Vision 2030 policy agenda

Riyadh, Saudi newspapers highlighted in their editorials today a number of issues at local, regional and international arenas.
Al-Bilad newspaper said in its editorial that the wide development movement and conferences, forums and exhibitions held with the participation of officials and experts specialized in various sectors, demonstrate the reality of the economic and development ambition aiming to enhance sustainability since it is one of the most important goals of the Kingdom’s Vision 2030. Additionally, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia exerts all efforts to achieve major achievements in implementation of the directives of the Saudi wise leadership for the prosperity of the country and citizens.
Therefore, as the Saudi Minister of Finance Mohammed bin Abdullah Al-Jadaan said, sustainability have been at the forefront of the Kingdom’s Vision 2030 policy agenda for the past several years, and a main goal in the overall development of the financial system, strengthening the role of the private sector and working with governments and commercial establishments around the world, which confirms Saudi Arabia’s insistence on distinguishing its economic leadership in word and deed. This is translated through the system of programs, initiatives and projects that enhance efforts to achieve sustainable development, including housing programs, digital transformation and quality of life, financial balance, and the National Industrial Development and Logistics Program.
The newspaper concluded that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia moves forward towards realizing qualitative achievements in different fields in order to build the economy of the future.
In another context, Al-Yaum newspaper reported in its editorial that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s sustained efforts and unlimited sacrifices aimed at protecting the health of people during the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) crisis reflect its leadership role regarding protecting human beings and preserving their rights, whereas this is a consistent approach for the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia since the country’s unification by its founder, and until this prosperous era, under the leadership of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense.
Within the same context, the Ministry of Health Spokesperson Dr. Mohammad Al-Abdulaali confirmed that the remaining stages in confronting the pandemic are very important, adding that the indicators have proven that the Kingdom has always been in advanced ranks and a role model in combating the pandemic at the world level. These things affirm the success and effectiveness of the plans, precautionary and preventive measures that Saudi Arabia has taken.
The newspaper further added that the Kingdom’s Vision 2030 covered all the reasons for success, both from the perspective of construction and development as well as from the perspective of caution, prevention and good management, which was positively reflected on Saudi Arabia’s capabilities in addressing the pandemic, making the Kingdom a role model in this regard.
The newspaper concluded that community awareness plays a crucial role in addressing the COVID-19 pandemic in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

Dialogue Session on Human Capacity Development Program Held in Riyadh

Riyadh, Dialogue session was held yesterday in Riyadh on the details, objectives and initiatives of the Human Capacity Development Program, which bears the title “Global Competitive Citizen”, as it is considered one of the most important programs of the Kingdom’s Vision 2030, which aims to transfer the concept of global competition from the space of the dream to the implementation.
The session was held with the participation of a number of members of the Program Committee, including Minister of Human Resources and Social Development Eng. Ahmed Al-Rajhi, Minister of Education Dr. Hamad Al Al-Sheikh, Minister of Industry and Mineral Resources Mr. Bandar Al-Khorayef, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Education and Training Evaluation Authority Dr. Khaled Al-Sabti, and others.
The Minister of Human Resources and Social Development, Eng. Ahmed Al-Rajhi, addressed the mechanism of the program’s contribution to bridging the gap between education and training institutions based on labor market requirement. While, Minister of Education, Dr. Hamad Al Al-Sheikh, stated that the program will being a comprehensive strategy for the development of human capabilities, starting from the kindergarten stage, passing through the stage of general and university education, technical and vocational training, and then the stage of entering the labor market until the post-retirement stage.
He also said that the program targets to make two universities among the world’s top 100 universities by 2030 through developing governance in higher education and education institutions.
