The Ministry of Commerce and Investment has defamed a branch of a company, specialized in sponge products in Dammam, for violating the Anti-Commercial Fraud Law and for not committing to the terms, conditions and licensing of sales.

The Ministry has published the content of the verdict issued by the criminal court in Dammam, to impose a fine against the violators and to publish the verdict in two local newspapers at the expense of the violating branch.

During the inspection tours by MCI inspectors in Dammam, the company's branch was found guilty of violating the sales terms and conditions by not placing a list comparing prices before and after the discounts, also for not placing the sales license in a visible place. Accordingly, the case was referred to the judicial authorities for taking the legal measures against the defendant.

It is worth mentioning that MCI has provided e-service for issuing the discounts licenses for commercial establishments, and this is part of the Ministry's efforts and keenness to verify the validity and reality of the discounts, and to ensure the absence of any manipulation or misleading towards the consumers, also to eliminate all fake offers or sales.

The Ministry of Commerce and Investment confirms the continuation of addressing those violating the Anti-Commercial Fraud Law by taking stern measures and imposing the legal penalties against them, in view of the fraud and deception towards the consumers. The Rules and Regulations related to Anti-Commercial Fraud Law stipulates penalties that may reach to three-year imprisonment, fines up to one million riyals or both , Defamation in two local newspapers at the expense of the violator, deportation of the illegal labors from the Kingdom, besides the suspension and prevention of practicing the same commercial activity.
