Iraq Records 1,882 New COVID-19 Cases

Baghdad, Iraq recorded 1,882 new cases of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19), in the past 24 hours, bringing the total number to 2,042,117.
In a statement, the Iraqi Ministry of Health stated that 39 new deaths were recorded, bringing the total number of deaths to 22,875, while 2,656 new recoveries were recorded, bringing the recovery tally to 1,979,563.

SFD CEO Receives Chairman of Board of Directors of National Bank of Iraq

Riyadh, Saudi Fund for Development (SFD) CEO, Sultan Abdurrahman Al-Marshad received here today Bassem Al-Salem, Chairman of the Board of Directors of National Bank of Iraq and Yazeed Abunayyan, CEO of National Bank of Iraq in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
During the meeting, they discussed the line of credit signed between SFD and the National Bank of Iraq to finance Saudi exports to the Republic of Iraq.

GCC Health Ministers Committee Hold 7th Meeting in Bahrain

Manama, The health ministers of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) discussed in their 7th meeting here today the implementation of the decisions of the Supreme Council of the 41st GCC Summit in Al-Ula, which was held in January 2021, particularly the adoption of the general framework for the public health response plan in emergencies, and the adoption of the early health warning system, and approving the establishment of the Gulf Center for Disease Prevention and Control.
At the meeting, which was chaired by the Minister of Health of the Kingdom of Bahrain, Faeqa bint Saeed Al-Saleh, with the participation of the GCC Secretary-General, Dr. Nayef Falah Mubarak Al-Hajraf, the ministers underlined the importance of unifying and coordinating stances as opposed to regional and international cooperation in the health sector, taking into consideration the health challenges facing the world that require strengthening cooperation and partnership relations and raising levels of coordination in all fields, including health, with friendly countries, regional and international entities, and implementing joint action plans as per timetables, in a way that benefits the citizens of the GCC countries and consolidates the role of the GCC in regional and international matters.
During the meeting, several decisions were issued deemed to enhance joint Gulf action in the health field, especially the efforts of the GCC in confronting the Coronavirus pandemic, the pioneering successes, and experiences achieved by the GCC member states in facing the pandemic and the continuation of close coordination between the GCC countries.
The decisions included approving the outcomes of the health technical committees, namely cooperation in the International Health Regulations (2005), preparing guidelines on plans and preparations for responding to epidemics and pandemics, the general framework of the Gulf public health plan for emergency preparedness and response, and unified health procedures at the border ports of the GCC states, the general framework of the public health emergency plan at the GCC airports, and the unified guide for healthy cities in the GCC area.
The ministers also discussed the progress made in implementing the work plan of the Health Ministers Committee (2022-2026), which includes several joint programs and projects aimed at enhancing cooperation and integration among the GCC states in the health field as well as discussing the Gulf strategic plan for the Healthy Cities Program, programs, and events, which will be organized on the Gulf Day for Healthy Cities, slated to take place on the first of March of each year.

WWE Superstars Fight Cyberbullying with ‘Be a Star’ Event in Riyadh Season 2021

Riyadh, In an initiative reflecting the keenness of Riyadh Season 2021, to carry out its social responsibility along with organizing and hosting the most prominent world entertainment events, the officials responsible for the most prominent event these days, “WWE Crown Jewel”, has organized an awareness event to combat cyberbullying under the slogan “Be A Star”.
The event aims to guide children to the appropriate ways to deal with negative responses on social media, and to benefit from the passion of this age group for WWE Superstars, to deliver targeted messages to educate young people.
The stars participating in the event advised the children to believe in their capabilities, know their most prominent strengths, and enhance their self-confidence, providing positive messages and directives for children to deal in the best way with negative responses in all social media.
The event also witnessed the attendance of a large number of children and school students, who interacted with their favorite WWE Superstars, expressing their happiness with their presence, and fulfilling a wish they had always dreamed of, which is to meet these stars and get to know them closely.
The children also thanked the WWE Superstars, for their help and advice on how to counter cyberbullying, and to positively deal with negative messages and responses on social media.

Chief of General Staff Receives Commander of U.S. Central Command

Riyadh, Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia Lt. Gen. Fayyad bin Hamid Al-Ruwaili today received at King Salman Base in the Central Sector, General Kenneth F. McKenzie Jr. Commander of United States of America Central Command and the accompanying delegation, currently on a visit to the Kingdom.
During the meeting, they discussed aspects of cooperation between the two friendly countries, especially in the defense field.
Also, they reviewed the importance of strengthening military cooperation, in addition to discussing issues of common interest that support the security and stability of the region.
The meeting was attended by a number of senior officers from both sides.

SAUDI ARABIA, KUWAIT, UAE REITERATE SUPPORT FOR BAHRAIN’S FISCAL PROGRAMME

Saudi Arabia, Kuwait and the United Arab Emirates reiterated their support for Bahrain’s plans to balance its budget,a move expected to help their neighbour in the debt capital markets despite delays in plans to fix its heavily indebted finances.

The three Gulf allies extended a $10 billion aid package to Bahrain in 2018 to help it avoid a credit crunch.

Last month Bahrain said that due to the coronavirus crisis last year, it had postponed the target year for a balanced budget to 2024, and announced plans to hike a value-added tax to boost state coffers.

The fiscal balance programme – a set of reforms aimed at balancing the budget – was linked to the pledged $10 billion
