NEW YORK, Head of Counter-Terrorism Department of the kingdom's Permanent Mission to the United Nations Abdul Majeed bin Abdulrahman Al-Babtain stressed that the OIC Group strongly condemns all acts of terrorism and practices, noting that the OIC is convinced that terrorism is committed by anyone anywhere, regardless of motives, objectives, forms and manifestations, can never be justified.
This was stated in the speech of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia on behalf of the OIC Group before the meeting of the Sixth Committee of the United Nations General Assembly on "Measures to Eliminate International Terrorism" agenda item 111, delivered today by Al-Babtain.
He said that "we strongly condemn any attempt to link Islam with terrorism."
He added that the group reaffirms the need to distinguish between terrorism and the right of peoples to self-determination and to resist foreign occupation.
In conclusion, he reiterated the call by the OIC Group to convene a high-level conference under the auspices of the United Nations to formulate a response by the international community to terrorism in all its forms and manifestations and to arrive at an agreed international definition of terrorism.
