Africa-based SME Accelerator Programme Drives Opportunity for Dubai investors with Second Annual Pitch Event

The MultiChoice Africa Accelerator event, staged by African entertainment company MultiChoice Group in partnership with Dubai-based accelerator C3, will see 11 finalists from across Africa pitch for international funding

Held in collaboration with technical partner EOH, Galelo Africa and UAE-based social enterprise Companies Creating Change (C3), the programme aims to support the growth and development of SMEs from across the African continent.

While the inaugural event, held at Expo 2020 in January 2022, included only start-ups from South Africa, this year’s iteration has opened up to organisations from more African countries, with finalists from Ghana, Senegal, Nigeria, Angola, Ivory Coast, Kenya, Zambia and Ethiopia, along with South Africa. Saudi Arabia Chairs Meeting of Arab Ministerial Quartet Committee on Iran

Cairo, Dr. Abdurrahman Al-Rassi, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for Multiple International Affairs, chaired a meeting of the Quartet Arab Ministerial Committee at the Arab League headquarters on Wednesday. The purpose of the meeting was to discuss ways to address Iran’s interference in the internal affairs of Arab states and to monitor developments in the crisis.

On the sidelines of the 159th Arab Ministerial Council of the Arab League, the committee reviewed a draft political statement on the crisis with Iran and the Arab responses to it after reviewing a report on the developments provided by the Arab League’s General Secretariat. A draft resolution was also prepared and submitted to the 159th Arab League Council session for approval.

Dr. Al-Rassi also attended the sixth meeting of the Arab Ministerial Committee examining and discussing Turkish interference in Arab states’ internal issues which was chaired by Egypt.

Additionally, the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for Multiple International Affairs participated in the meeting of the Arab Ministerial Committee concerned with halting Israeli measures in the occupied city of Jerusalem, headed by Jordan. The Secretariat General of the Arab League prepared a report on the most recent developments of the situation in Jerusalem, and the committee discussed the Arab move to stop Israeli measures in the city.

BIE Enquiry Mission Visits Proposed Riyadh Expo 2030 Site

Riyadh, Members of the Bureau International des Expositions (BIE) Enquiry Mission paid on Wednesday a visit to the proposed Riyadh Expo 2030 site, and were presented with the capital’s masterplan for the venue which covers 6 million m2.

Accompanied by Fahd Abdulmohsen Al-Rasheed, CEO of the Royal Commission of Riyadh City (RCRC) at the KAFD Metro Station, they were introduced to the efficient, sustainable, and high-tech public transport system, that is at the heart of the city’s infrastructure plan. The delegation also got a chance to discuss the significance of Riyadh city’s future mobility plans.

“We are integrating the Metro in the capital’s intracity infrastructure, ensuring its connectivity to the main sites and accommodation hubs within Riyadh, as part of the city’s mobility initiatives within the Riyadh Sustainability Strategy,” said Al-Rasheed. “Such investments in the capital’s infrastructure demonstrate the support of our Leadership, and of all government institutions, behind the Riyadh Expo 2030 candidacy”, he added.

They discussed the willingness of the PIF to partner with foreign companies in the areas of construction, cultural programming, events management, etc., to deliver the best-possible World Expo,

The Kingdom’s ambition is to host the first World Expo to go beyond carbon neutrality and to achieve a net overall positive impact. This was the message delivered by Adel Al-Jubeir, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs and Envoy for Climate, when he met with the BIE delegation. Al-Jubeir declared that Expo 2030 will contribute to the Saudi Green Initiative and the Riyadh Sustainability Strategy. Everything would be done “to ensure Riyadh Expo 2030 follows the values of environmental protection”.
