Supported by KSrelief, Artificial Limbs Center Provides Medical Services to 478 Patients in Taiz, Yemen

Taiz, Yemen-- The Artificial Limbs Center project in Taiz Governorate, Yemen, with the support of King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSrelief), has continued offering its medical services for Yemeni people who have lost limbs.

During December 2022, the center offered 1,709 services to 478 patients.

The services included manufacturing and rehabilitating artificial limbs for 134 patients, including delivering, measuring and maintenance of the limbs, as well as providing physical therapy sessions and specialized consultations to 344 people.

This comes as part of the humanitarian projects being provided by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, through KSrelief, to alleviate the suffering of the Yemeni people.

KSrelief Supervisor General Meets with Saudi Arabian Ambassador to Guinea

Riyadh-- Advisor at the Royal Court and Supervisor General of the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSrelief) Dr. Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Rabeeah, at the center’s headquarters in Riyadh today, met with Saudi Ambassador to Guinea Dr. Fahad bin Eid Al-Rashidi.

The two sides went over issues related to humanitarian and relief affairs and means to support humanitarian works in Guinea.

Al-Rashidi expressed his admiration for the professional mechanism of KSrelief while carrying out its humanitarian works and its relentless endeavors to help the needy across the world without any discrimination.

SPA President Receives Ambassador of Turkiye to Saudi Arabia

Riyadh-- President of the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) Dr. Fahd bin Hassan Al Agran received here today Ambassador of the Republic of Turkiye to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia Fatih Ulusoy and his accompanying delegation.

During the meeting, they discussed media cooperation fields between the two news agencies of the two countries and ways of developing them.

SFD Expands Operations in Caribbean Countries, Finances Expansion Project of West Indies University in Antigua and Barbuda

Riyadh– The Saudi Fund for Development (SFD), represented by CEO Sultan bin Abdulrahman Al-Marshad, and Prime Minister of Antigua and Barbuda Gaston Browne today signed an agreement worth USD 80 million to finance the expansion of the West Indies University in Antigua and Barbuda, making it the 85th country to receive funds from SFD in the world, out of plans to expand SFD’s activities in the Caribbean countries and to contribute to realizing Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

The agreement aims to develop the higher education sector, promote scientific innovation and add extra educational facilities which contribute to enhancing education services at the level of Caribbean countries to achieve SDGs.

The signing ceremony was held at the university headquarters in the presence of several officials from both sides, as well as students of the university and some residents of the region.

This agreement is the largest of its kind to finance an educational development project in the Caribbean countries spanning from the Southeast of North America, East Central America, and North and East South America, which reflects the SFD's support for development projects, out of its belief in the principle of prosperity for all, and providing support to various countries in the world with the aim of achieving sustainable development.

The agreement includes the construction of 7 buildings, designed according to the energy conservation system to match clean and innovative energy solutions, with an estimated total area of around 95,160 square meters, where the project will contribute to increasing the university's capacity from 600 to about 5,000 students per year, as well as developing educational services so that the university becomes able to provide high-quality and equal educational services. The project is also designed to increase access to higher education for the population and members of the Organization of Eastern Caribbean States, in addition to boosting economic growth by creating more direct and indirect jobs that positively support the local economy.

Browne praised the development efforts of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, through SFD, expressing his happiness and appreciation for supporting the project that will improve the educational sector in Antigua and Barbuda and neighboring countries, commending the concern through SFD’s support to develop and expand the university.

For his part, Al-Marshad said that the fund, through financing this project, seeks to expand its operations in the Caribbean countries in line with efforts of the Saudi government to enhance development cooperation with the international community and help international efforts aimed at realizing SDGs in various economic and social fields.

The CEO said: “The government of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia attached great concern to support development sectors across the world through development projects and programs that are funded by the Saudi Fund for Development, and signing the agreement is in light of the fund’s awareness that good education is a noble message, human requirement and part of the Sustainable Development Goals.”

Chief of General Staff Visits Kyrgyzstan, Meets Minister of Defense and Deputy Prime Minister

Riyadh-- The chief of the General Staff, Lieutenant General Fayyad bin Hamed Al-Ruwaili, arrived in the Kyrgyz Republic, accompanied by a delegation of senior officers of the Armed Forces, as part of an official visit that will last for several days. The visit is in response to an invitation received by Prince Khalid bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, Minister of Defense, from Kyrgyz Minister of Defense Lieutenant General Baktybek Bekbolotov.

Al-Ruwaili and the Kyrgyz Minister of Defense held a meeting during which they reviewed bilateral cooperation between the two countries, especially in the defense and military fields, and discussed several issues of common interest.

The chief of the General Staff visited the Military Institute of the Armed Forces of the Kyrgyz Republic, accompanied by the Kyrgyz Minister of Defense and the Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces of the Kyrgyz Republic, Major General Erlis Terdikbayev. Al-Ruwaili and the accompanying delegation were briefed on the institute and its facilities.

After that, Al-Ruwaili met with the Deputy Prime Minister and Chairman of the General Committee for National Security in the Kyrgyz Republic Lieutenant General Kamchybek Tashiev.

During the meeting, they discussed bilateral relations and ways to develop them to achieve common interests between the two countries.

He also visited the military unit 44549 and was briefed on the unit and its facilities.

The meetings were attended by the Saudi Ambassador to the Republic of Kyrgyzstan, Ibrahim bin Radi Al-Radi, and a number of senior officials from both sides.

European Parliament Calls for Inclusion of Iranian Revolutionary Guard on Terror List

Brussels-- The European Union Parliament voted today to include the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps on the EU's list of terrorist organizations.

In the vote, 598 members favored the resolution, 9 opposed it, and 31 abstained.

On Thursday, the Parliament will discuss whether to suspend the 2015 multilateral Iran nuclear deal, known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action.
